Right now, in both the House and Senate Bills, we have undone the 2003 cuts to welfare, expanded extensions to the time limit and prohibited workfare. We need Senators and Representatives to hold strong and NOT ELIMINATE any of these critical provisions that have passed both the House and Senate!
Specifically, we want the Conferees to pass the following (most of which again are in both bills):
1. Prohibit Workfare (Unpaid forced labor )
2.Undo the SSI Cut
3.Undo the $50 housing cut (only in Senate bill)
4.Undo the family cap
5.Increase the extensions for the time limit
6. Undo the 20 hour work requirement on top of education
7. Undo MA copays. (only in Senate bill)
8. Undo Child care co-pays.
**Furthermore, we want members to give a grant increase to the welfare grant (that has not been increased for 21 years!)
***Call on House Conferees to give the TANF money back to TANF, to take the Senate position on undoing the $50 cut and undoing MA co-pays.
