We, the undersigned, urge Minnesota legislators to raise the welfare grants. Minnesota’s welfare grants have not been increased since 1986--over twenty years ago! The welfare grant for a family of two is $437 a month. This puts Minnesota children at over 60% below the Federal Poverty Level. Meanwhile, the cost of living in Minnesota has risen 78%.

We call on the 2007 Minnesota Legislature to act this year to increase the monthly welfare support for families in poverty.
